Sending an Invoice to Xero

Sending an Invoice to Xero

Firstly, you'll need to create the invoice from a cashflow - if you're not sure how to do this, have a look at  this article.

Once you have an invoice you want to send Xero, head into the invoices tab and open the invoice that you want to send to Xero, and then click the 'Send To Xero' button:

Before you click the button, you want to make sure that the correct Nominal account has been selected and that all the amounts are correct, once you send an invoice to Xero it cannot be edited! You also need to ensure that the Xero Account Code and Xero Tax Type columns are populated for all invoice lines:

The Xero Account Code doesn't need to match the Nominal Account and you can have a different setup in Xero to Accelerate if required. The Xero Tax Type is defaulted from the Xero Account Code and you can also default in the Xero Account Code from the Nominal Account or the cashflow type, see above for details of how to set this up.

You should then see a screen like this:

Now it's time to either create a new Xero Contact, or select one that already exists. If you want to create a new contact, simply press the save button. If you want to link this relationship to a contact that already exists, click the up arrow and select which contact you want to link.

You only need to link a Relationship, Funder or Dealer to its matching Xero contact once: Accelerate will remember your settings.

After pressing save, Accelerate will check for any errors and send the invoice to Xero.

Once the invoice has been sent to Xero, you'll receive a green success message. You'll now be able to see the 'View In Xero' button on the Invoice page.

Upon clicking 'View in Xero' you'll be able to see the invoice record that was created on Xero, it should look something like this:

Great - we've managed to send our invoice to Xero!
