Configuring Email Domains

Maximising the deliverability of the email you send from Accelerate is obviously important. Unfortunately, sending email through a transactional service like Accelerate (or Salesforce, or anything similar) requires a bit more configuration than sending it straight from your email client. This is because receiving email servers want to make sure that it's really you sending that email, not someone pretending to be you. Receiving servers vary in their sensitivity.

To maximise deliverability through Accelerate:

  • We use SendGrid - the same platform as Uber, Airbnb and Spotify

  • We have our own dedicated IP address at SendGrid to ensure that bad behaviour by other SendGrid customers can't affect deliverability.

  • We have DNS white-labelling in place to prove that the email was sent from Accelerate and not something pretending to be Accelerate.

However, to complete the circle you will need to do add a few records to your DNS records so that emails sent from your email address but via Accelerate can be fully authenticated. Don't worry - this is actually very straightforward:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ -> ‘Brands’ and select one of your brands. Note that each brand can only send email from one domain.

  2. Put the domain (the part of the email address after and not including the @) you wish to validate into the Email Domain field and then click the validate button. This will send you details of the records you need to add to your DNS to ensure that your email is authenticated.

  3. Once you have added the DNS records (refer to whoever manages your website/s if you are unsure on how to do this) then log back into Accelerate, go to Settings -> Brands, select the relevant brand and press the Validate button again. If the DNS records have been added correctly, you will get a confirmation message.

  4. Your email domain is now ready for use with the selected brand!

Note: If you have a dedicated email channel you may also like to add an additional A record to satisfy servers that are doing A record lookups when attempting authentication - please ask us for more details on this.
