Email Issues

Sometimes emails can't be sent to the recipient - this can be for a number of reasons and Accelerate will alert you when we can't deliver an email.

Reasons an email can fail to deliver

Email message size exceeded

Currently our mail provider will only allow us to send 20MB including the email body. Your attachments should be no more than 19MB as the actual email body may be up-to 1MB

Bounce

This can happen when you send an email to an address which doesn't exist.

Deferral

This means that the destination server can't process the message at the moment: it has received too many messages in a short period of time, run out of disk space, the user has run out of space quota, or there's just something else wrong at the recipient's end! If this happens, no further action is necessary - we will keep trying to deliver for 72 hours.

Block

This happens when you try and send another email to an address which has bounced previously. Because usually, if the address didn't exist before, it won't exist now. If you do need to get an address unblocked then please raise a support ticket using the QV Systems Support Hub.

Dropped

A drop occurs when we receive a request to deliver a message to an address, but that address is currently listed on one of the Suppression Lists (which include the Bounce List, Unsubscribe List, and Spam Report List). Since sending to these emails is bad practice, the transactional mail provider drops the message and doesn't attempt to deliver it.

Note: Emails are added to the 'Unsubscribe List' if they have clicked the 'Unsubscribe' link at the bottom of your emails. The presence of this link is important to maximise deliverability of your email. If a recipient unsubscribes accidentally, raise a support ticket and we will remove the suppression.
