Calculation Defaults

Calculation defaults are the mechanism used to provide default values when calculating. They are set up from the Settings page, and therefore you must be a system administrator in order to access these pages.
You can set up calculation defaults at two levels:
Global: these apply to quotes for all relationships unless they have a relationship-level calculation default.
Relationship: these apply to a single relationship
The attributes of a calculation default can be seen below:
Relationship | Leave blank to create a global calculation default, or specify the relationship if creating a relationship level calculation default. |
Monthly Overhead | An amount which will be added to each month of each quote. |
Profit Amount | An amount which will be added to each quote. |
Profit OTR Perc | A percentage which will be applied to the OTR and added to each quote. If both Profit Amount and Profit OTR Perc are specified, Profit OTR Perc will take precedence. |
Service Overhead | An amount which will be divided by the number of payments and added to each service payment. |
Customer Rate | The default interest rate to apply. |
Rate Type | The type of rate specified in Customer Rate. |
Car RV Modifier | The % of CAP Clean RV to apply to cars by default, expressed as a decimal between 0 and 1. |
Car SMR Modifier | The % of CAP SMR to apply to cars by default, expressed as a decimal between 0 and 1. |
LCV RV Modifier | The % of CAP Clean RV to apply to LCVs by default, expressed as a decimal between 0 and 1. |
LCV SMR Modifier | The % of CAP SMR to apply to LCVs by default, expressed as a decimal between 0 and 1. |
Term | The default term. |
Initial Rentals | The default initial rental multiple. |
Pause Type | The default pause type for deals where initial multiple > 1. |
Annual Mileage | The default annual mileage. |
Maintenance | Whether maintenance should be selected by default. |
Tyres | Whether tyres should be selected by default. |
Glass | Whether glass should be selected by default. |
Relief Vehicle | Whether relief vehicle should be selected by default. |
Recovery | Whether recovery should be selected by default. |
XSM SMR Perc | The percentage of the calculated excess mileage figure to apply to the maintenance excess mileage. |
Active | Whether this calculation default is active. You can only have one active global calculation default at a time. |
Rate Tweaks
Rate tweaks enable you to vary the default interest charged on a quote according to the selected term. Rate tweaks are associated with a calculation default, and a calculation default can have zero, one or many rate tweaks. Note that rate tweaks cannot be created on a new calculation default until it has been saved.
A rate tweak is added by clicking Add Rate Tweak and filling in the following fields:
Term Floor | The lowest term to be affected by the rate tweak |
Term Ceiling | The highest term to be affected by the rate tweak |
Tweak Amount | The absolute value to be added to the customer rate when the deal term is between Term Floor and Term Ceiling. |
Only one tweak will be applied to a given deal - i.e. they are not cumulative.
To take an example: if your default customer rate at calculation default level is 6.25% and you create two rate tweaks as follows:
Term Floor 48, Term Ceiling 59, Tweak Amount 0.25%
Term Floor 60, Term Ceiling 120, Tweak Amount 0.75%
Then a deal at 48 months would have a default rate of 6.5%, a deal of 60 months would have a default rate of 7%.
